Charley’s Diary Part 2

Charlie’s Diary 22nd. June 2010.

Well… what a week I have had…. I will begin with my name.
To my surprise, I found out that Charlie means “my love” and is a good boy’s name.
Odie (The BOSS) and I were playing tag in the garden. My human was sipping her coffee as she checked out her raspberry patch. She bent down to pull out a weed . I thought I could be of help and at half speed ran over and gave her a hefty nudge on her bottom. I was wearing my muzzle. She went flying into the raspberries. Coffee all over the place and that was when I found out about my other name when she bellowed …”CHARLES!!!”.
I had never heard that before. Then came another shock, she struggled to her feet and said it again “CHARLES!!!” but this time it was accompanied by THE LOOK!  I ran to stand behind Odie, but as he is only little, he didn’t do a good job of hiding me!  I am happy to say it did not last long, because my human laughed. :-)
The next day, I had forgotten it ever happened. New friends arrived to meet me and they brought a gift, a stuffie!  I was wearing all the necessary equipment… my leash and muzzle. My other human was holding the leash lightly and I swear I wouldn’t have done it if Jackson THE CAT had not raced across the grass!!! We were off and running!!! The leash was dropped, wine was spilled, Odie was barking like a wild thing and then it came…. “CHARLES!”… I am sure there was THE LOOK as well, but I was going too fast to see it!!! Jackson THE CAT shot through the hedge as mad as….. well, I am not going to spoil my diary by using naughty words, although there were a few choice ones flying round the garden.  ;-) I am happy to report, I was not the only one in trouble. My other human, the one who dropped the leash, got “JOHN!” and THE LOOK and wee Odie was told to shut up. The guests were in fits of laughter and I must admit, I was rather proud of my part in the entertainment.
Lots of other things have happened, too.  The highlight was the upstairs hall. Last year, beautiful hard wood was laid and the hall looked great. Then I came along. I slid, crashed, somersaulted and nearly killed myself every time I went to bed in my human’s room. :-( My stuffies suffered too. After much discussion, we now have a hall with 36ft. of beautiful soft runner that I can trot up and down on like the elegant fellow I am!
As I said, it was an interesting week.
OH! THE CAT cat came back and boxed my ears !!! ;-)
Charlie.
